Inter-league Rules

BASIC RULES FOR

Big Bay, Escanaba, Manistique, & Munising

1.               No Jewelry.

2.               All players will wear shin guards.  All shin guards that are not secured under the foot will have socks covering them.

3.               No foreign objects in mouth (gum, ice, etc.).

4.               Ball size:  7-9 year olds – size 3.  10-12 – size 4.  13-adult – size 5.

5.               NO arguing with referees or coaches.  If there is a complaint/comment the team captain is the only one allowed to talk with the ref.  The coach can talk to the ref at half-time or after the game.

6.               Any casts, splints, or braces must be approved by referee.  When appropriate the coach should get a doctor’s release. (see page 16 of the National High School Rule Book).

7.               Must wear team colored shirts, the goalie must wear a shirt of a different color than the team color.

8.               No kicking, tripping, jumping, charging, striking, holding, or pushing an opponent.

9.               No sliding tackles outside the opponents’ peripheral vision.  In the 7-9 year old league – no slide tackling is allowed.

10.            In the 7-9 year old league an off-sides will result in a drop ball, not a change of possession.

11.            The head coach must have a team roster at all games.

12.            A team must field no less than 7 players at a scheduled starting time, or forfeit the game.  If both coaches agree, players from the larger team may play for the other team to even up the sides.  It is understood that teams will play even numbers (11 vs. 11 or 9 vs. 9 – unless the team with less players requests to play uneven).

13.            The player’s age will be based on their age on August 1.

14.            No adults along the goal line.  Coaches should stay on their half of the field.  No balls inside net (put along side of goal).

15.            Any disruptive spectator or coach will cause his/her team first to be yellow carded and on the second offense to be red carded.  At that time, the opposite team would get a penalty kick.

16.            It is the responsibility of the coach to return all soccer equipment to the soccer storage building at the end of the game and season or the coach will be charged for the equipment not returned.

17.            The home team coach is responsible for getting two flagmen, the timekeeper, and the equipment to the playing field at game time and returned to the soccer storage building at the end of the game.

18.            Substitution can only be on your possession, throw-ins, corner kicks, or after a goal on either side.
